We have an exciting job opportunity available as a Junior Banking Analyst at an international bank located in The Hague.

 

 

Organization

Our client is an international bank, located in multiple European cities. You will be working at the headquarters in The Hague. The bank is active in consultancy, finance, and investments for a diverse customer group: corporations, financial institutions, investors, financial sponsors, family businesses, and retail customers. Our client is in transition from a financial service provider to a digital banking company.

 

Function

As a Junior Banking Analyst, you will collaborate with the team to ensure that financial products are correctly valued and managed on a daily basis. Your role requires a control mindset, involving in-depth analysis to evaluate product portfolio performance and the accuracy of the accounting process. With your support, the Finance department will be able to create insights and contribute to strategic decision-making.

You are responsible for precise financial analyses and reporting for product portfolios, financial instrument valuations, and compliance with bank and regulatory standards. Consequently, you will encounter a diverse range of financial products, with a particular focus on treasury products such as funding, derivatives, trading products, currency, bonds, and debt investments.

 

Your tasks include:

  • Collecting data from various sources and performing checks and data validations. If you find inconsistencies or errors, you investigate which source caused it and search for an explanation;
  • Ensuring correct and accurate accounting and reporting of the product portfolio; 
  • Implementing hedge accounting and managing portfolios across various business units;
  • Comparing the values of previous day’s transactions and calculating profit and loss (P&L);
  • Overseeing the general ledger to ensure alignment between bookkeeping and the P&L statement, verifying the accuracy of valuations and positions;
  • Monitoring the development of derivatives on the balance sheet and preparing disclosure notes for IFRS compliance.

 

 

Requirements

To be a successful Junior Banking Analyst, you have or are:

  • Master degree in Finance, Finance & Investment, Financial Economics, or similar;
  • 0-2 years of relevant working experience;
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills;
  • Strong affinity with valuations and financial products;
  • Detail oriented, to maintain accuracy in financial reporting and analysis;
  • Strong communication skills and a true team player;
  • A problem-solving mindset for addressing financial challenges;
  • Experience with Python is a plus; 
  • Fluent in English.

  • Gross monthly salary of €3.600 – €4.000 based on 40 hours, depending on your background and experience;
  • Study budget of €1.500;
